Today, I will be sharing with you excepts from another devotional entitled, “Daily in Christ”, by Neil Anderson.
Adam was the first to be tempted by the notion that he could “be like God.” (Genesis 3:5), which is the essence of the self-centered worldview that Satan promotes. Millions have been seduced by Satan in believing that they are God. It began with the New Age Movement and “wokeness” has joined its ranks. These sinister movements are promoting this lie on a grand scale.
The serpent said… “You will be like God, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3: 4,5).
The Biblical account of creation clearly established that only God the Creator is truly God. Adam and his descendants are not gods; we are created beings which cannot exist apart from God. The diabolical idea that man is his own god is the primary link in the chain of spiritual bondage to the kingdom of darkness.
The problem with man’s attempt at being his own god is that he was never designed to occupy that role. He lacks the necessary attributes to determine his own destiny. Even sinless, spiritually alive Adam in the garden of Eden before the Fall wasn’t equipped to be his own god.
Contrary to what the New Agers and the current “woke” activists tell us, the potential to be a god never was in you, isn’t in you now, and never will be in you. Being God is God’s capacity alone. There is no such thing as your truth or my truth. Only Jesus is TRUTH.
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6).
If you desire to live in freedom from the bondage of the world, the flesh, and the devil, this primary link in the chain must be renounced. The self-centered worldview, also known as “secular humanism,” which Satan and his emissaries are promoting must be replaced by the perspective that Jesus introduced to His disciples in the wake of Peter’s self-preserving rebuke in Matthew 16: “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up this cross, and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it but whoever loses his life for My sake shall find it” (verses 24, 25).
The cross that we are to pick up on a daily basis is not our own cross but Christ’s cross. We are closely identified with His cross, however, because we have been crucified with Christ and no longer live; Christ lives in us (Galatians 2:20). His cross provided forgiveness from what we have done and deliverance from what we were. We are forgiven because he died in our place; we are delivered because we died with Him. We are both justified and sanctified because of the cross.
To pick up the cross daily means to acknowledge every day that we belong to God. We have been purchased by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1: 18, 19). When we pick up the cross, we affirm that our identity is not based in our physical existence but in our relationship with God. We are identified as children of God (1 John 3: 1 – 3) and our life is in Christ, who is our life (Colossians 3:3,4).
I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ on August 27th, 1995, and my name is officially in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
The Lamb’s Book of Life is a Biblical concept, a divine register from the book of Revelation, containing the names of all who have received eternal life through Jesus Christ, the “Lamb of God.” Having one’s name in this book signifies salvation and eternal life, while not having it written in the book leads to condemnation. In other words, hell will be your forever, eternal home after you die. Don’t put this important decision off any longer…due it NOW!
The following statements have been taken from the book entitled, Man Myth Messiah, by Rice Brocks.
I think it would be safe to say that no one’s life or death in the history of the world has been studied, analyzed, debated, and heralded to the world as much as Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Regardless of who you are or where you were born, eventually you must make a decision about what you believe about this Man and the claim that He is the Son of God, the Savior of the world.
If Christ had not been raised, then Christianity would be completely discredited and unworthy of even a moment’s consideration, or as the apostle Paul stated, “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile.” (1 Corinthians 15:17).
In closing, please be mindful, that when you take your last breath here on earth, your precious soul will either go to heaven or to hell. Eternity is forever…choose wisely.
