You Must Be Born Again (Spiritual Birthday!)

John 3:1 - 7

Recently, I have been asking friends and family, “When is your spiritual birthday?

Instead of a jubilant response of affirmation concerning this question, each reply was filled with much hesitation and vagueness, as if they had no idea of what I just asked them. I found this quite troubling, and that is why I am addressing this important matter with you today.

Fact… every person will die one day. The question is, where will your soul spend eternity, heaven or hell? The decision is yours to make.

In John 3: 1 – 7, Jesus teaches Nicodemus that to enter the kingdom of God, a person must experience a spiritual rebirth --- being “born again.” This new birth is not physical, but spiritual, involving being born “of water and the Spirit,” meaning a transformation by God’s power.

According to the late, Voddie Baucham, being “born again” is a necessary supernatural act of God that awakens a person from spiritual death, enabling them to have true repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

This spiritual rebirth, which is distinct from a physical birth, is not a result of human effort but a gift from God that allows believers to become aware of their sin and need for a Savior, thus opening the door to salvation and an eternal destiny. Being “born again” is God making us “alive together with Christ.”

The process of being born again removes the spiritual scales from a person’s eyes, allowing them to become aware of their sinful condition and their need for a Savior.

The result of being “born again” is a changed heart that leads to repentance and faith. It is not something that can be earned or is a result of human works but is entirely a gift from God.

On August 27, 1995, I repented of my sins and asked Jesus Christ, to become my Lord and Savior. According to Revelation 21:27, my name is officially in the Lamb’s book of life. Hallelujah!!

If you are ready to give your life to Jesus, please repeat the sinner’s prayer.

“Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I want to turn from my sins, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe He died for my sins and that You raised Him to life. I want Him to come into my heart and to take control of my life. I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow Him as my Lord from this day forward. In Jesus’ Name, amen.”

If you have prayed this prayer, please begin reading the Bible daily and find a Bible believing church. Next, please get baptized.

Congratulations on making the best decision of your life.

When you take your final breath, your soul will spend eternity in heaven with Jesus Christ.

“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8
